United Continental and ANA Form Trans-Pacific Partnership

Last Friday, April 1, United Continental Holdings, Inc. and ANA unveiled the launch of a trans-Pacific joint venture. Through the partnership, United and Continental will coordinate sales and marketing with ANA. The partnership, which came about through the U.S.-Japan Open Skies agreement and antitrust immunity set up by U.S. and Japanese regulators.

Now the airlines can align schedules, fares and terms and conditions for itineraries from here on out. This will enable customers to book itineraries that combine U.S. flight segments on United or Continental; trans-Pacific segments on ANA, United or Continental flights; and flights within Japan on ANA.
