Joining Delta and Continental, United has raised its baggage fees effective for tickets issued on or after January 14 for travel on or after January 21. The move impacts domestic checked bags and follows similar fee increases imposed by Continental and Delta.
United says its checked baggage policy is for United Economy travel wholly within the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada. Fees for first and second checked bags are: $20 for first checked bag and $25 after January 21. Second checked bag fees are $30 and $35 after January 21. There is still a discount for checked bag fees paid through EasyCheck-in Online at united.com, United notes. The first and second bag fees are each way.
