US Airways Announces Lower East Coast Fares

US Airways announced Thursday that it cut fares by nearly 20 destinations that are serviced by its eastern hubs of Charlotte (NC), Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The airline's executive vice president-sales and marketing said the move was part of the process of integrating with America West, "combining consumer-friendly pricing with the reach and amenities of a coast-to-coast and international network." Lowered fares include a Charlotte-Philadelphia route, now at $278, down 44 percent; and a Pittsburgh-Syracuse (NY) service, down 61 percent to $198.
