US Airways Backs Off Delta Bid

US Airways on Wednesday dropped its $9.8 billion bid for Delta Air Lines. The decision was made after Delta creditors rejected the carrier's second bid, stating Delta would fare better emerging from bankruptcy on its own, as Delta secured financing to exit bankruptcy just last week. US Airways' bid for Delta was set to expire on Thursday.
