Virgin America Launches San Francisco-Los Cabos Service

Virgin AmericaVirgin America has begun direct service to Mexico's Los Cabos, four times a week, between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and San Jose del Cabo International Airport (SJD).

Next month, it will be joined by service to Cancun, from Los Angeles International (LAX) January 19, 2011, and from SFO to Cancun January 20, 2011. Through January 18, 2011, the airline is running a promotion with a sweepstakes on the airline's Facebook page, to win two roundtrip main cabin tickets and a two-night hotel stay in Los Cabos or Cancun.

On Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, service will depart from SFO to SJD at 12:10 p.m. to arrive at 4:20 p.m. aboard Flight 706. The return flight also operating on those days will depart SJD at 5:20 p.m. to arrive at 7:35 p.m. on Flight 709. Los Cabos is the airline's second international destination after Toronto, Canada, and the thirteenth destination since its debut in 2007. Current service includes San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Washington D.C.. In addition, the airline provides travel to Seattle, Las Vegas, San Diego and Boston, alongside Fort Lauderdale, Toronto, Orlando and Dallas-Fort Worth.

Onboard, the airline offers The Red touch-screen entertainment system, featuring 30 movies, live TV, Google maps and videogames. Also available on Virgin America flights, including those to Mexico, are seat-to-seat chat, music videos, a 3,000 MP3 catalog, a digital shop section and an on-demand menu.
