Virgin Atlantic Hong Kong Strike Could Affect London Flights

virgin atlanticA strike by Virgin Atlantic cabin crew in Hong Kong could affect flights to London starting December 21, Business Traveller reports. The strike is scheduled to last until January 1, 2016, and will only affect the London-bound Virgin Atlantic flight VS207

According to The Hong Kong Standard, the strike is due to a cost-cutting measure at the airline that will lay off longtime cabin crew workers. The layoffs, which will take effect in March, account for two-thirds of Virgin's staff in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Cabin Crew Federation Secretary-General Carol Ng Man-yee told The Hong Kong Standard that the airline had refused to negotiate.

The South China Morning Post reports that a Virgin Atlantic spokeswoman has said that the airline does "not expect this to impact our flights."
