flydubai, Dubai's first low cost airline, has announced flights to its 22nd destination: Arbil in the Kurdish region of Northern Iraq. Flights to Iraq's third largest city will start on Friday, July 16. Flights will operate twice a week on Fridays and Mondays.
"Arbil is reinventing itself and undergoing an economic boom with new hotels, leisure and healthcare facilities, commercial towers and trade centers," flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith, said, adding that the United Arab Emirates is set to invest AED22 billion in Iraqi Kurdistan in the next three year. With the advent of a more stable period in the country's history and increasing numbers of direct flights, the city is opening its doors to a new wave of travelers and tourists.
