WestJet to Launch Ultra-Low-Cost Carrier in Canada

WestJet has announced its intention to launch a new, ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) in Canada subject to agreement with its pilots and any required regulatory approvals. Service is expected to start in late 2017 with an initial fleet of 10 high-density Boeing 737-800s designed by the airline that first brought low-cost air travel to Canada in 1996.The ULCC will aim to provide Canadians with lower-cost, no-frills travel options, WestJet said.

WestJet Rewards enables members to earn five percent back on flights and vacation packages; two percent back with the WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard; flight benefits and companion vouchers; WestJet dollars for online car rentals, hotel bookings, and more. Plus, one WestJet dollar = one Canadian dollar, so redemption is easy. Members can use WestJet dollars towards the purchase of WestJet flights and vacations packages on any day, at any time, to any WestJet destination with no blackout periods  ̶  even on seat sales. WestJet has a number of codeshare partnerships, enabling flyers to earn WestJet dollars with other airlines - particularly on routes that WestJet does not operate.
