Flossie Update – Storm Leaves Hawaii as Tropical Depression

hurricaneThe National Weather Service is forecasting Tropical Depression Flossie to leave Hawaii on Tuesday, the AP reports via ABC News. On Monday widespread power outages hit Maui, Molokai and the Big Island due to the storm.

CNN reports that the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Maui and flash flood watches for the rest of the state.

In a press release Aqua Hospitality has stated that it is waiving cancellation and no show fees for incoming guests who are impacted by flight cancellations due to the storm. Additionally, guests unable to depart the islands due to the storm will be offered a 15 percent discount off best available rates for additional nights incurred at their hotel today through August 1, 2013. To receive the discount, guests will be asked to show their airline return ticket at the front desk.

All Aqua Hospitality properties across its three brands of hotels - Monogram Hotel Collection, Aqua Hotels and Resorts, and Lite Hotels - will be covered by the storm cancellation waiver. The discount offer is available at all properties with the exception of Hotel Lanai. The waiver and discount are valid through Thursday, August 1, 2013. Cancellations can be made by calling 808-441-7777 or toll free at 1-866-940-2782.

Similarly, Alaska Airlines has instituted a Tropical Storm Flossie Waiver for flights canceled due to the storm on Monday and Tuesday. Waivers cover travelers flying to or from Honolulu (HNL), Lihue (LIH), Kahului (OGG) and Kona (KOA).

Hawaiian Airlines reports that passengers traveling from July 29 through 30 who are affected by the storm will be permitted to change reservations without charge to flights departing on or before August 27. Changes must be made prior to August 27.
