Gunmen Attack Radisson Blu Hotel in Mali

Update: The New York Times reports that authorities have freed the remaining hostages from the hotel, with two assailants killed and the operation to retake the property still underway. In all as many as 27 people have been killed. 

Gunman stormed a Radisson Blu hotel in Bamako, Mali, early the morning of November 20, killing at least 27 people, The Washington Post reports. 

The Daily Telegraph reports that the Defense Ministry of France has confirmed that French special forces have reached the hotel. 

According to USA Today, the hostages included five Turkish Airlines personnel and 12 crew members, including two pilots, from Air France

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the takeover, the Washington Post said, although Mali has suffered attacks from militants affiliated with al-Qaeda and other organizations in the past.
