CLIA Expresses Solidarity With People of Ukraine

As the crisis in Ukraine deepens, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has issued a statement, expressing its solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

The statement reads, "CLIA and our members stand for peace and express their solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Our thoughts are with all who are impacted by the conflict in Ukraine across the overall region and we fervently hope that a peaceful resolution is reached soon."

It also said that it is working with organizations to address challenges to the safety, security, and well-being of seafarers.

"CLIA will continue to work with many organizations across the maritime community, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), shipping associations, seafarer unions, and government authorities, to address challenges to the safety, security, and well-being of seafarers as a result of the conflict," the statement read. "We are also working with other members of the global maritime community in urging the IMO to consider the most effective way to promote industry-proposed solutions to mitigate the effects of the conflict on innocent seafarers."

"As always, the safety and security of guests, crew and the communities we visit are of the utmost importance for CLIA and its members, and will continue to be the criteria on which our cruise line members base decisions," the statement concluded.
