Spear Travel Group, an independent affiliate of Travel Experts, Inc. based in New Jersey, has created The Giveback Getaway. As part of The Giveback Getaway, you can nominate a healthcare professional working on the front lines of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, who can then win a luxurious getaway when the crisis subsides.
“In speaking with my colleagues, we all wanted to find a way to be of service to those protecting our collective health and welfare at this unprecedented time of crisis,” said Ryan Spear, president of Spear Travel Group. “Doctors, nurses, therapists, lab technicians, paramedics and others in the medical field are working longer and harder than ever before under extraordinarily challenging circumstances and we owe them a debt we can never repay. But, having nearly two decades of relationships built across the hospitality network, I knew my industry fellows would want to step up and help with this initiative, and wow, did they ever come through.”
Spear Travel Group will be awarding 10 hotel stays across the U.S., plus a few island getaways.
Anyone can nominate a frontline healthcare professional to win a Giveback Getaway. To do so, visit www.thegivebackgetaway.com by May 1, 2020. Simply fill out the form to share the story of an outstanding healthcare professional and why he/she is deserving of a special getaway to honor his/her selfless service.
Voting on the stories of nominees opens May 4 and ends May 15, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. EST. During this time, nominators are encouraged to share their nomination broadly so friends, family and peers can cast their votes. Ten winners will receive at least a two-night getaway from a generous hotel sponsor; the prizes will be awarded to the front-line health care workers who receive the most votes, starting with our first prize winner who will have a choice of getaway. Winners will be notified via email on May 16, 2020. Because airfare is not included in the prize value, Spear Travel Group has launched a GoFundMe page https://www.gofundme.com/f/the-giveback-getaway to raise funds for airfare and related travel expenses to benefit the winners. Donations will be accepted through May 15, 2020.
