The U.S. Travel Association will host its first-ever “Future of Travel Mobility Summit” on October 26 convening executives in the business, transportation and technology sectors, together with policymakers and administration officials.
The day-long event will take place at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. It will explore issues central to the coming decade of travel mobility and the traveler experience, including sustainable travel, seamless and secure travel, and innovative and emerging travel. Speakers will address the vital intersection of business innovation and public policy with the goal of accelerating action on critical mobility initiatives that strengthen core American industries.
Key sessions will include “The Green American Road Trip,” “From Curbside to Cruising Altitude,” and “Connecting Cities in Minutes With Hyperloop.”
Among the confirmed speakers for the event are Pete Buttigieg, secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation; Alejandro Mayorkas, secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), ranking member, Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works; U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell (D-MI), member, House Committee on Energy and Commerce; U.S. Representative John Katko (R-NY), ranking member, House Committee on Homeland Security; Austin Brown, senior director for transportation emissions, White House Office of Domestic Climate Policy; Ed Bastian, CEO, Delta Air Lines; Joe Ben Bevirt, founder and CEO, Joby Aviation; Todd Davidson, CEO, Travel Oregon; Josh Giegel, CEO and Co-founder, Virgin Hyperloop; Kevin McAleenan, former acting secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; CEO, Pangiam; Denise Naguib, vice president, Sustainability and Supplier Diversity, Marriott International; Mark Reuss, president, General Motors Company; Blake Scholl, founder and CEO, Boom Supersonic; Anne Smart, vice president, Public Policy, ChargePoint.
The summit is seen as a key step in advancing the association’s goal of building more modernized travel infrastructure systems and increasing the industry’s global competitiveness beyond the pandemic.
