Frontier Airlines Expands Fall Flight Schedule

June 25, 2009 By: Megan Stride Travel Agent

Frontier Airlines is continuing to reorganize itself out of bankruptcy. Fresh from Republic Airways' Monday announcement that it plans to sponsor and eventually own the airline, Frontier has increased its flights to popular destinations for its fall 2009 schedule.

Starting September 14, Frontier is adding a seventh roundtrip flight to Las Vegas and to Phoenix, and a fourth roundtrip flight to Sacramento. Second roundtrip flights to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale will be added October 5.

Lynx Aviation, Frontier's subsidiary, is also adding new flights this fall; additional roundtrips to Albuquerque, Omaha and Salt Lake City will be available starting September 14. Lynx will discontinue all service to El Paso and Grand Junction on that same date.

Frontier filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2008. If Republic's plan to be the equity sponsor and eventual owner of Frontier is approved by the courts, Frontier would become a Republic subsidiary alongside Chautauqa Airlines and Shuttle America.
