Tauck Offers Online Seminars On February 10February 4, 2010 By: George Dooley
Travel agents interested in selling more upscale tours and cruises can soon get a first look at a new series of online educational sales seminars being offered by Tauck. Peter Tauck, whose grandfather founded Tauck in 1925, will host a virtual preview of the seminars at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, February 10.
Travel agents can log-in to participate in the 45-minute preview at Tauck’s agent-only website, http://agent.tauck.com. The preview will feature a live online chat in which Peter Tauck, who also hosts each segment in the series, will discuss the seminars and answer agent questions.
“Our agents consistently tell us that they want to sell more Tauck, and this new online series will provide easy, insightful and practical tips on how agents can do exactly that,” said Tauck senior vice president of sales and marketing, Navin Sawhney. “Agents understand that sales of upscale, all-inclusive products like Tauck’s can be a real profit center for their businesses, particularly because our tours and cruises pay commission on over 100 different trip components. Our new online seminar series will help agents to take full advantage of the great profit opportunities our products represent.”
Tauck is initially producing five of the pre-recorded seminars, which will be posted on the agent-only website beginning February 17th. Each seminar will be conversational in style and tone, and – in deference to agents’ busy schedules – none will exceed 15 minutes in length. Because the segments are pre-recorded, agents can view them at their leisure and pause and restart them as necessary.
Peter Tauck has served as an officer and board director at Tauck, and he has held numerous positions within the company since 1980, including tour director, director of reservations, general manager, and executive vice president. From 1997 to 2001, Peter served as co-president, and today he brings his vast experience and expertise to bear on a number of high-level projects for the company.
Peter has also served in various leadership roles with the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA), and he has been a member of numerous travel advisory boards. He has also been named a winner of Travel Agent's "Person of the Year" award for his accomplishments and his commitment to the travel agent community.
