Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club to Stay Open Year-Round

Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club has announced that it will stay open throughout the year. Travelers can enjoy the destination during the fall as the majority of Anguilla’s resorts traditionally close during September and October. Furthermore, starting August 8, vaccinated travelers will not be required to produce a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country.

The 300-acre property, set on the beaches of Rendezvous Bay, has undergone a multimillion-dollar transformation. Facilities include restaurants and lounges, a 27,000-square-foot spa with 16 treatment rooms, and the newly revamped Aurora International Golf Club. The resort is owned by businessman Richard M. Schulze, the founder of Best Buy, and is managed by Salamander Hotels & Resorts. Through his Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, Schulze supports a range of causes on the island, including food insecurity, educational technology and healthcare. He is also instrumental in developing a local school lunch program and a neighborhood clinic.

“We welcome the decision by the Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club to operate year-round, which represents a tremendous vote of confidence in our island and in our tourism industry,” said Stacey Liburd, Anguilla’s director of tourism. “Becoming a 12-month destination has long been a strategic goal of the Anguilla Tourist Board, and this moves us that much closer to realizing our objective. We applaud the visionary leadership demonstrated by Mr. Schulze and his team."

This fall, Aurora Anguilla will open a short golf course, a golf instructional facility and a refreshed version of the resort’s former Japanese restaurant, Tokyo Bay. Future plans include a water park; 500-seat amphitheater with views of the Caribbean Sea; and courts for sand volleyball, pickleball, tennis, basketball and bocce ball.

Accommodation options at Aurora Anguilla include ocean-view Island Suites with wraparound terraces and private jacuzzis. For larger groups or families, the resort offers three- and five-bedroom villas, besides a 6,300-square-foot Estate Home which includes butler service and a private pool.

Aurora International Golf Club has undergone a comprehensive remodeling of its 18-hole championship layout by Greg Norman Golf Course Design. A nine-hole Short Signature golf course, also designed by Norman, opens this fall with panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and a range of shot angles and distances.
