The Hoxton Announces Seven New European Openings

The Hoxton has revealed its expansion plans, with seven hotels slated to open in Europe by early 2024. The Hoxton will open its fourth London hotel in Shepherd’s Bush this December, followed by Brussels, Amsterdam (second hotel), Berlin, Edinburgh, Vienna and Dublin all slated to open by early 2024.

Opening in December 2022, Shepherd’s Bush will have 237 rooms, the Chet’s restaurant, an open lobby with vintage seating, a central wraparound bar and terrace, a sustainably minded retail store, and The Apartment meeting and events space. The brand has partnered with Saira Hospitality—a non-profit initiative sources and trains talent from disadvantaged backgrounds through its pop-up hospitality schools—for its upcoming Shepherd’s Bush opening.

Occupying a Brutalist-style tower building and the former European headquarters of IBM for its debut in Brussels in early 2023, The Hoxton will have 198 ’70s inspired rooms; a double-height lobby, bar and restaurant; a rooftop bar and terrace; and The Apartment meeting and events space. The hotel is located north of the city center, close to the Botanical Garden and the Northern Business District, and within walking distance of Grand Place. The building will also be home to Working From_, The Hoxton’s co-working brand which has locations in The Hoxton, Southwark (London) and The Hoxton, Chicago. Working From_ will occupy four floors of the building, with open desks, studios, breakout spaces, and communal pantries on each floor.

In spring 2023 The Hoxton will open its second Amsterdam property in Eastern Docklands district. Ennismore Design Studio has collaborated with Nicemakers, a local design studio that visualized The Hoxton’s first Amsterdam hotel, to transform the iconic Lloyd Hotel into a Hoxton. The building has been a landmark in Amsterdam since 1921. The hotel will accommodate 136 bedrooms, including a handful of new “Biggy Bunk Up” rooms with bunk beds; a ground-floor lobby and restaurant; an outdoor terrace; and The Apartment meeting and events space.

In summer 2023, the brand heads to Charlottenburg, West Berlin—a neighborhood located a few minutes from Kurfürstendamm (Ku’damm) shopping area. Here, The Hoxton is settling into a former hotel, which Ennismore Design Studio will renovate, inspired by the neighborhood, which was at the heart of the city’s creative rebirth during Berlin’s Golden 1920s era. It will have 234 rooms; an open lobby, cocktail bar, restaurant and coffee shop; and The Apartment, a 1920s parlor-inspired meeting and events space.

Growing its U.K. footprint, The Hoxton will open in Edinburgh in summer 2023. The hotel’s 211 rooms will be split on either side of the street, spread across 10 stitched-together townhouses. In addition to the hotel’s bedrooms, Edinburgh will have three “Hox Homes”—three-bedroom self-contained apartments that offer guests full flexibility and long-stay accommodation. The hotel will also house a lobby, restaurant, large event spaces and a gallery.

In late 2023, The Hoxton will open in Stadtpark, Vienna in a 1950s modernist building which served as the former headquarters of Austria’s Chamber of Commerce. The 196-key hotel will have a spacious lobby and coffee bar; a restaurant and terrace; rooftop bar and pool; a basement speakeasy; and The Apartment meeting and events space. It will also offer an auditorium—a first for the brand.

Debuting in Ireland’s Dublin in early 2024, The Hoxton will restore the former Central Hotel and its iconic Library Bar. It will enjoy a prime location on Exchequer Street, a stone’s throw from Dublin Castle, Grafton Street and George’s Street Arcade. Once restored, the hotel will have 129 rooms, an open lobby, café and wine bar, restaurant, and a late-night music venue, another first for the brand.
