The Travel Corporation Donates $100,000 to Fight Australia Fires

To assist Australia in the face of its devastating bushfires, The Travel Corporation (TTC) has donated $100,000 to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS).

As the lead combat agency for bushfires in NSW and the largest volunteer fire service in the world, the Service directly benefits volunteer firefighters as they continue to battle the country’s devastating bushfires.

“On behalf of TTC, our hearts go out to the devastating loss of life, property, wildlife and nature from the bushfire tragedy. A huge appreciation goes out to the outstanding efforts of the NSW Rural Fire Service – the danger they put themselves in on a daily basis to protect the community and its surrounding area is heroic," said Brett Tollman, Chief Executive Officer of The Travel Corporation, in a written statement. Funds will go toward technology and necessities such as radios, floodlights, GPS for the trucks, maintenance, fuel, food and training.

The move makes The Travel Corporation the latest travel brand to donate to Australian bushfire aid. Carnival Corporation, the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation and five of the company’s cruise brands – P&O Cruises (Australia), Carnival Cruise Line, Cunard, Holland America Line and Princess Cruises – have collectively pledged over $1.25 million to support disaster recovery efforts, including both immediate and long-term efforts.

Similarly, Etihad and Intrepid Group have pledged their own aid. Intrepid is matching all donations up to AUD $200,000 to the Red Cross Bushfire Emergency Appeal, while Etihad is working with the Emirates Red Crescent to raise funds within the UAE to support relief efforts.
