San Ignacio Resort Hotel Offers Birding Packages This Fall

The second annual Belize Birding Festival is taking place October 19 – 20, 2019 in San Ignacio. Great for casual and hard-core bird lovers alike, Belize is home to more than 580 species of birds, from the keel-billed toucan to the endangered scarlet macaw. The Birding Festival will include different speakers, vendors and art exhibitors, guided tours, and other special activities.

San Ignacio Resort Hotel in the jungle of the Cayo offers on-site tour guides, with birding tours such as early morning birdwatching, Aguacate Lagoon birdwatching and more. Visit San Ignacio Resort Hotel’s Bird Watching Checklist for a rundown of what you might see right outside the resort windows.

Birding Packages

The San Ignacio Resort Hotel’s Best of Belize Birding Package offers a five-night stay in the Garden Room. It includes guided birding expeditions to such locations as El Pilar Archaeological Site, Mountain Pine Ridge and Aguacate Lagoon, in addition to tours to Nest of the Crested Caracara Private Reserve, on-site medicinal trails and the Green Iguana Conservation Project. The Wings Over Belize Birding Package includes five nights in the Garden Room at San Ignacio Resort Hotel and five nights in a Regular Cabana at Chan Chich Lodge. This package offers even more full-day birding expeditions, including the Lamanai Archaeological Site, Cahal Pech Archaeological Site and a night birding vehicle tour at Chan Chich.

Dining With the Birds

Over 85 species of birds inhabit the vegetation of the resort’s 17-acre private estate, and guests can watch them from the hotel’s dining patio and open grounds. Guests of the resort’s Running W Steakhouse and Restaurant enjoy an international menu with meats from the ranch run by the same family that owns the resort.

River and Jungle View Suites

Ideal for groups and families, the resort’s new River and Jungle View Suites each accommodate up to six guests. They have large outdoor living spaces with lounge chairs and dining areas designed for guests to come together and enjoy scenic views of the Macal River, its surrounding rainforest valley and Belize’s natural jungle setting. For larger groups, the Jungle View Suite is available as a connecting room with the River View Suite, and children 11 and under stay for free. Guests staying in one of these new suite categories can enjoy complimentary access to the Green Iguana Conservation Project and Medicinal Trail tour.
