Hapag-Lloyd Cruises Completes Successful Restyling of Europa 2

The design, technology, and concept of the MS Europa 2 were successfully renovated during a scheduled docking period in Hamburg, Germany, this week. The Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ship had several of its facilities redesigned with the goal of modernizing the guests’ experience.

The renovations took place over the last two weeks, with over 500 external specialists and 300 crew members on hand to work on conceptual changes, cosmetic repairs, maintenance tasks, and structural elements.

All in all, renovations were made on countless items, amenities, and areas of the ship by the craftsmen. The most notable updates are:

  • The Belvedere Lounge on Deck 9- The Belvedere has been given an entirely new look, complete with new furniture, colors, and materials. Located at the bow of the ship, this lounge has been retooled into a coffee bar with a newly-integrated library, making it a comfortable and relaxing space for guests.
  • The Herrenzimmer bar on Deck 4- The popular gin bar has been given a makeover and will now be called the Collins. Gin selection has now expanded to 45 varieties, art pieces by Hamburg duo Sutosuto have been added to the center of the room, and a record player complete with a full selection of musical choices has been added.
  • The Spa area on Deck 5- All four saunas in the spa areas have been renovated and given a new concept. The Finnish-themed sauna heats up to 194 degrees, as the revitalizing Deep Ocean sauna heats to a milder temperature of 131 degrees. The mineral steam bath heats up to 113 degrees with 100 percent humidity, and the herbal sauna heats to 149 degrees and sports Black Forest-inspired décor to create a comfortable atmosphere.

Also added are new restaurants, a jazz club, and a museum. After its scheduled docking, the MS Europa 2 will first sail from Hamburg through the Kiel Canal to Oslo and Gothenburg.
