Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled the lineup of events scheduled for its sixth season of “Meet the Winemaker” series. The program offers guests a chance to engage with winemakers and other experts through seminars and activities, which include wine tastings and wine-paired dinners and interactive culinary demonstrations, besides meet-and-greets on board.
The program will be offered on select cruises aboard Norwegian’s ships Encore, Escape, Joy and Bliss. For the first time in its history, the series will make its way to Europe as Norwegian Escape sails around the Greek isles and Italy on July 17 and October 12. Winemaker Antonio Hidalgo of the family-owned Spanish Sherry house, Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana will host the event in July. The October edition will be hosted by Sandro Bottega of Bottega S.p.A.
This year, on select cruises, participants can also savor culinary experiences sponsored by Certified Angus Beef. They can enjoy dishes paired with wine, while learning from a master sommelier. Each of the cruises features vintage wines chosen by the expert and brought on board for the exclusive events. Wine packages range from $22 to $100 per person plus tax, and gratuity and may be reserved once on board.
Here is the complete lineup of the 2022 “Meet the Winemaker” series.
- On March 6, 2022, Norwegian Encore will feature Rob Mondavi Jr., son of Isabel and Michael Mondavi and a fourth-generation Napa Valley winemaker.
- On April 2, Norwegian Escape will feature the “Chateau Lafite Rothschild (Lafite) Wine Dinner” hosted by Diane Flamand, winemaker, Bordeaux Collection Wines, Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite).
- On July 2, Norwegian Bliss will feature Salvatore Ferragamo. Along with his father Ferruccio, Ferragamo has been conserving the Il Borro estate in Tuscany, which produces wines.
- On July 17, Norwegian Escape will feature Antonio Hidalgo of Bodegas Hidalgo La Gitana.
- On July 24, Norwegian Encore will feature the “Opus One Wine Dinner” hosted by Greg Miller, sales and marketing manager of Opus One Winery.
- On August 13, Norwegian Bliss will feature Michael Mondavi of the Michael Mondavi Family Estate.
- On October 12, Norwegian Escape will feature Sandro Bottega of Bottega S.p.A.
- On October 22, Norwegian Joy will feature Gérard Bertrand, who was the recipient of “The Drinks Business” Green Awards 2020.
- On December 11, Norwegian Encore will feature Randy Ullom from the Kendall-Jackson family.
