The Port of Mobile has reopened after the passage of Hurricane Nate, Carnival Cruise Line reports. The port had remained closed this morning to allow for the completion of channel surveys, according to port officials.
With the reopening, Carnival Fantasy is currently en route to dock. Check-in for embarking guests will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. this evening. Due to daylight navigational restrictions, the ship will remain overnight in Mobile and depart tomorrow morning at the earliest opportunity on a “cruise to nowhere,” Carnival said.
As we reported earlier in the day, the Port of New Orleans is also open again following the storm. Carnival Dream will operate a modified six-day cruise out of New Orleans departing Monday, with calls at Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
Guests who choose to sail on modified voyages will receive a pro-rated refund, Carnival said. Those who opt to cancel can do so and receive a future cruise credit equal to their cruise fare.

While Nate brought deadly flooding to Central America late last week, when it made landfall as a category 1 hurricane in the United States, reported damage was light. Thus far, there have been no reports of storm-related deaths or injuries in the U.S.
Air Travel
Travel waivers as a result of the storm are still in place for a number of airlines.
American Airlines customers traveling through Gulf Coast airports through October 9 can rebook through October 15. Customers flying through other airports in the United States through October 10 can rebook through October 15. In both cases travel must be between the same city pair in the same cabin (or pay the difference).
Delta customers scheduled to travel through Costa Rica through October 9 can rebook through October 12, with the new ticket to be reissued on or before that date. Customers flying through the United States through October 9 can rebook through October 15.
United Airlines will waive the change fee and any difference in fare for customers flying through October 9 on new flights departing through October 15 between the same city pair in the originally ticketed cabin.
Southwest Airlines guests flying through October 9 can rebook in the original class of service or travel standby within 14 days of their original date of travel between the same city pair.
