Royal Caribbean Cruises unveiled its 2010/2011 sailings this week for another year-round deployment in Asia aboard Legend of the Seas.
This year's schedule includes over 60 sailings with seven new itineraries and new destinations, as well as returns to successful favorites from last year. Travel Agent spoke with Marc Miller, manager, deployment strategy to find out more.
Last year Royal Caribbean added Yokohama, Tokyo's port, to Legend of the Seas itineraries. She will be returning to this port following her successful first year. "Yokohama was added to coincide with the Golden Week holidays in Japan, which occurs at the end of April and early May," says Miller. "Golden Week consists of four national holidays in a seven day period resulting in businesses closing allowing their employees to take vacations. Beginning April 30, 2011, we will offer three round-trip, eight-night sailings from Yokohama."
We were also told that the cruise line will launch two sailings in September 2011 as the line repositions from Beijing to Shanghai. 'The first one will sail from Tianjin, China, to Yokohama, and the second is from Yokohama to Shanghai, China. These sailings are seven- and nine-nights in length respectively," says Miller.
Miller told Travel Agent that Royal Caribbean will be returning to Indonesia next year for the first time since 2001. These sailings will take place in late February/early March and both feature an overnight in Bali.
Other new ports for Royal Caribbean in 2011 include Aomori, Japan; Semarang, Indonesia; Lombok, Indonesia; and Shanghai as a turnaround point.
