“Virtuosos” Creator to be Godmother of Crystal River Cruises Ship

Mariann Peller, the creator and producer of the classical music talent TV show “Virtuosos” will be the godmother of Crystal River Cruises’ newest ship Crystal Ravel. She will give the ship her blessing at a christening ceremony in Budapest July 11.

The Young Virtuosos, a group of classically trained musicians sponsored by Peller, and tenor Steffan Mullan will also perform at the ceremony. The christening in Budapest will be a stop on the ship’s July 5 cruise leaving from Vienna. Passengers sailing this itinerary will be able to attend and participate in the event.

The Crystal Ravel is the fourth in the company’s ‘Rhine Class’ line. These ships are all-balcony, all-suite and all-butler ships sailing destinations throughout Europe. The 106-guest Crystal Ravel will travel the Danube and Rhine rivers between Budapest, Basel, Vienna and Nuremberg, passing through Hungary, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Slovakia.

On Peller’s TV show “Virtuosos,” airing on Hungary’s MTVA public television station, children and young adults compete in different genres of classical music. Opera tenor Plácido Domingo and late-night star James Corden are partnering to remake the show for U.S. and U.K. audiences.

Peller also founded the Young Virtuosos Foundation. The organization supports young classical musicians and works to preserve and provide education on the area’s musical history. Crystal announced it will donate to Peller’s Young Virtuosos Foundation.
