This week in cruise travel, luxury cruise lines released details on a number of events guests can celebrate onboard in the New Year.
Cunard announced its plans to celebrate Transatlantic Fashion Week in 2019, with an onboard lineup of speakers and guests including royal milliner Stephen Jones OBE, shoe designer Stuart Weitzman and model Pat Cleveland. The event will take place onboard the Queen Mary 2’s transatlantic crossing from July 28 through August 4, 2019.
Cunard will also be commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day in 2019 with a special seven-night cruise that will feature talks with six WWII veterans. The Queen Mary 2 will sail the itinerary departing New York on May 24, 2019, and heading for London, with a number of lectures, Q&As and discussions with the special guests onboard.
For foodies, this week Ponant announced that Edie Rodriguez, the line’s Americas brand chairman, would host a special culinary cruise in 2019. Running April 13 to 22, the ten-day cruise of northern Europe onboard L’Austral is called Gastronomy, Vineyards and Grands Crus. It will visit a number of European wine capitals and host special guests Jean-Robert Pitte, geographer and wine historian, sommelier Eric Beaumard and cheese maker and affineur Bernard Antony.
