Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is spotlighting the Sham Shui Po District via an award-winning videographer.
Following closely after the “Old Town Central” campaign last year, the Hong Kong Tourism Board started a new campaign showcasing Sham Shui Po as a place to visit. The promotions will demonstrate the locations features including several walking routes recommended by locals with themed decorations displayed at various locations.
Alex Rodriguez, an awarding videographer, shot a two-minute time-lapse video of the destination called Immerse Yourself in Sham Shui Po like Locals Do, showing its nooks and crannies from the perspective of a gaai fong (local inhabitant) to a worldwide audience.
The film shows an average day in the market community. Residents go out to do their daily shopping in stalls along the streets after dawn. The markets have products ranging from meat to vintage toys, colorful fabrics and computers. The open-air market on Apliu Street is known for its electronics.
Immerse Yourself in Sham Shui Po like Locals Do includes a culinary exploration with several Michelin recommended local eateries and street food stalls, including the tofu dessert at the Kung Wo Beancurd Factory.
The film goes to the Arli Star Leather Factory and the Tai Nan Street to Café Sausalito, where a live jazz performance acts as a soundtrack to the atmosphere. The film ends at the dai pai dong: a traditional open-air restaurant.
