Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts Announces Changes in Samaná

Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts has announced changes at select properties in Samaná, Dominican Republic.

Bed and breakfast/ half-board models will be implemented at Bahia Principe Grand Cayacoa in November, followed by Bahia Principe Grand Samaná in December. The two hotels are currently all inclusives.

This decision aligns with a rising trend that exemplifies guests' desire to engage authentically with their destinations during their stays. Recent research by American Express reinforces this trend, revealing that 85 percent of travelers prefer destinations where they can authentically experience local culture, and 78 percent express a keen interest in contributing to and supporting local communities while on their trips.

“The 21st-century traveler is seeking new experiences, whether through wellness, outdoor activities, gastronomy, or a specific interest. But we find that the common denominator is always the search for unique locations and the liberty of enjoying travel to its fullest,” said Helen Montijano, commercial director USA & Canada. “For Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, we are adapting two of our all-inclusive hotels in Samaná to the new trends, changing our model to bed and breakfast or half board including breakfast and dinner. With so much to discover in Samaná, this will be a win-win for guests who want competitive rates with the full hotel experience and service.”

Located in the northeast of the Dominican Republic, Samaná has become an attractive choice for tourists due to its mangrove forests and areas, including Las Galeras, a popular snorkeling spot, and Playa Rincón, where tall coconut palms dot a 1.8-mile stretch of white sandy beach. Additionally, many visitors take day trips to sites such as Los Haitises National Park, known for its high rock formations. Samaná is also a destination for humpback whale spotting from January to March.

The location of the 295-room Bahia Principe Grand Cayacoa inspires guests to discover adventure or switch off and relax. With two pools, two restaurants, two bars, and a spa, guests of all ages will have endless options within the properties. Additionally, at Bahia Principe Village they can also dance to local rhythms, shop for local souvenirs, enjoy live entertainment, and more.

Bahia Principe Grand Samaná, a Victorian-style adults-only hotel, rises over the natural setting. This 149-room property features two restaurants and two bars and is also constantly booked for intimate and wedding celebrations. Guests can also nourish their body and soul with a treatment at the spa or by working out at the resort’s gym.
