The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel offers a cozy, heated, indoor pool that is open year-round. The pool area also includes an open ceiling, adding natural light to the space, and seating on the exterior. Advisors looking to rent out the pool/pool area for parties or events should email [email protected].
There are no scheduled activities that take place in the pool, but we were told yoga is available upon request. The hotel also offers 11 bars and restaurants, although they are not poolside.
Fashioned after English Adams architecture by designers Warren & Wetmore, the hotel's special details include one of the world's largest gold-leaf ceilings in the Pantlind lobby. The historic cornerstone was placed in 1913 and the hotel officially opened in January 1916. By 1925, it was ranked as "One of the Ten Finest Hotels in America.”
The Amway Corporation acquired the historic The Pantlind Hotel and carefully refurbished the original building. The Amway Grand Plaza opened in 1981 and now combines the elegant heritage of The Pantlind Hotel with the modern amenities of the contemporary 29-story Glass Tower addition to the original hotel.
The 682-room Amway Grand Plaza has played a major role in the renaissance of downtown Grand Rapids and continues to draw thousands of visitors to Western Michigan each year. The hotel also includes a full-service spa, fitness center and retail outlets.
