Exclusive: Details on Karisma's Plans to Open Three Hotels in Cap Cana

As part of Travel Agent's ongoing coverage of Karisma Hotels & Resorts' 10th annual Gourmet Inclusive Vacation Consultants (GIVC) awards, we learned more details on the company's plans to open three hotels in the Cap Cana resort area of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, by 2019.

The three properties will include Karisma's first El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas Royale, by Karisma hotels outside of Mexico.

Daniel Scheiman, Karisma's senior business development manager for North America, told attendees the third hotel will be a Sensimar Resorts property.

The news was first reported about a month ago by Dominican Today. According to that report, groundbreaking will begin the spring of 2018.

"What we are all about is looking for new experiences, new destinations, new programs to keep giving the people what they want, which is something different," says Mandy Chomat, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Karisma Hotels & Resorts.

Expansion to Huatulco

Meanwhile in Mexico, the company also announced plans to expand to the little known Mexican destination of Huatulco. Scheiman says groundbreaking on all three hotels, including an El Dorado Royale hotel, a Generations Resorts hotel and a Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts property, will begin in 2019. All three hotels are expected to open in 2020.

"We are really excited about this new destination in Mexico that we think people are really going to enjoy," says Chomat.

The GIVC event rewards Karisma's top producing agents and suppliers. The event kicked off Wednesday and runs through Saturday.
