Hotel Christopher Completes First Phase of $7 Million Renovation

Hotel Christopher, a lifestyle hotel nestled at the secluded Pointe Milou on St. Barths, is unveiling major renovations for the 2010 season.

The first phase of the renovations included the refurbishment of the hotel’s two restaurants, Taino and Mango, and the lobby area with an adjacent Linde Gallery concept store. It also included the redecoration of 11 rooms (seven 422-square-foot Poolside Superior Rooms and four 422-square-foot Deluxe Ocean View Rooms) and a completely transformed pool, the largest on the island, holding 21,000 cubic feet of water. Extra large teak loungers set atop panoramic platforms are elegantly scattered in a theatrical style around the hugely inviting pool offering pristine views of the sea.

The second phase of renovations planned for Hotel Christopher will begin in May and will include three new 880-square-foot Suites complete with a bedroom, living room and large terrace, 10 new 480-square-foot Junior Suites and six new Poolside Superior Rooms to complement the existing 41 rooms and suites.

Eleven rooms at Hotel Christopher have been completely redecorated using a blend of eclectic composite materials. Lava stone and granite finishes have been used in each room along with sliding teak doors to separate the bedroom from the bathroom. Each room is appointed with modern furniture by Paola Lenti and decorative wood furniture from Bali, modular lighting systems and double-sized loungers on the terrace. All of the rooms are equipped with a large flat-screen TV, iPod base, mini bar, vanity mirror, professional hairdryer, orthopedic beds with Egyptian cotton bedsheets and Laura Tonatto bathroom amenities to complement the spa-inspired rain shower.

Another enhancement to the property is the newly designed lobby area where guests are greeted with a set of sofas by Dutch designer Piet Boon along with a planter punch drink and a cold scented towel. The reception area includes a foyer with several complimentary computer stations. In addition, the lounge seating allows for group check-in and is commonly used in the evening for guests to gather to watch popular events on TV like the Olympics or Super Bowl.
The lobby is decorated with pictures and paintings by both local and international artists and shelving designed by the Netherlands-based company, Moooi, displays newspapers, glossy magazines, coffee books, travel guides and information about the island’s activities.

Adjacent to the Hotel Christopher lobby is a Linde Gallery concept store selling a collection of beachwear, bikinis, dresses and sarongs, along with collections of Emilio Pucci and Rick
Owens prêt a porter, vintage accessories, Comme des Garcons perfumes, scented candles, presents for kids and art books by Gerhard Steidl.
