Hotels.com Price Index Shows Jump in Asia Room Rates

The latest Hotel Price Index, released April 6 from hotels.com, showed Asia jumping 4 percent in prices paid per room, per night last year, when compared to 2009.

China's room rates are up 19 percent and additional increases in hotel rates can be seen across the region. Singapore is up 33 percent, Malaysia up 17 percent, Indonesia up 13 percent and South Korea up 10 percent.

Bali's room rates increased an impressive 35 percent, which may be attributable to the destination's featured spot in the movie Eat, Pray, Love. Rooms averaged almost $188 per night during 2010.
