Two Destination by Hyatt Hotels to Open in China

Hyatt has announced that the Destination by Hyatt brand will debut in Asia Pacific with two properties in Mainland China. The brand has plans to launch in the region with a hotel set amidst the mountains of Qingchengshan in Sichuan Province, followed by a beachfront hotel in Dalian, Liaoning Province.

Expected to transition into the Destination by Hyatt portfolio this year, the 231-room Grand Resort Qingchengshan is situated near two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan hydro-engineering project built during the Qin Dynasty. The area is a popular weekend getaway for city dwellers, located less than two hours outside Chengdu and conveniently accessible by road and rail.

Located at the edge of Mount Qingcheng, Grand Resort Qingchengshan is less than a 10-minute drive from the entrance to Qingchengshan-Dujiangyan National Park. Most rooms will offer mountain views and feature a spa with hot spring and traditional Chinese medicine-focused treatments. Guests can savor local dishes and farm-to-table offerings at the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant. Immersive experiences and children’s facilities will also be available.

The second Destination by Hyatt property will be located along the beachfront within the Xiaoyao Bay International Business District in Dalian, a port city and tourist destination in Liaoning Province. Expected to open in 2026, the hotel will be owned and developed by Dalian Kaiyueda Resort Hotel Development Co., Ltd as part of a mixed-use development featuring residential, retail, wellbeing and international medical facilities. The hotel will have access to an “ocean spring”—a natural source of freshwater hot spring from the ocean floor—offering therapeutic benefits. With this natural resource, sea views and proximity to a mountain park, the hotel is envisioned to be a retreat that will offer guest experiences with a focus on wellbeing. It will also feature meeting and event facilities and a restaurant on the beach.
