JW Marriott has completed a multimillion-dollar, full-scale renovation of the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London. The project is directed by Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) and GA Design.
The renovation, in celebration of the hotel’s 90th anniversary, aims to incorporate present-day design while honoring the history of the property.
The transformation of the former home of the Duke of Gloucester includes an extensive re-imagination of the ground floor—a move designed to complement the hotel's views of Hyde Park.
The décor includes butterfly wall art and bespoke carpets in a soft palette of neutrals with accent colors that reflect the changing seasons. The transformation of the original lobby fireplace includes floor-to-ceiling glass, which connects the lobby entrance to the Park Room restaurant.
Cuisine Updates
Places to eat and drink in the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London include:
- The Park Room: Modeled after stately homes throughout the country, this space has floor-to-ceiling glass windows to showcase Hyde Park. Here guests can sip the hotel's Afternoon Tea, served alongside homemade pastries, or taste the exclusive Yellow Rose tea or Serpentine Gin, both concocted specifically for the hotel using plants found in Hyde Park.
- JW Steakhouse: JW Steakhouse serves prime USDA select cuts in a traditional steakhouse setting. During their meal, guests can listen to a live piano entertaining daily from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. For an intimate gathering, guests can opt for the private dining room that can accommodate up to 12 guests. An al fresco terrace is also available during the spring and summer months.
- Bourbon Bar: This bar is home to over 300 rare, pre-Prohibition, single batch bourbons.
- Red Bar: In contrast to the neutral palette seen throughout the hotel, Red Bar received its name from the space’s red décor.
- Corrigan’s Mayfair: Led by Host Patron Richard Corrigan, this restaurant serves quintessential British and Irish dishes.
- Ruya London: This space offers a taste of contemporary dishes from the Anatolian region, which stretches from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea.
Revamped Event Spaces
JW Marriott Grosvenor House London has more than 53,000 square feet of meeting space. The Great Room can hold up to 2,000 guests in a single sitting—an ideal venue for award ceremonies and receptions. This area was formerly used as an ice-skating rink, where Queen Elizabeth II learned to ice skate while she was princess.
The Ballroom has cut glass chandeliers and Art Deco features. The Court Suite meeting space, with capacity to seat up to 250 guests, has a bespoke carpet and is reminiscent of the former ice skating rink, with ice-sculpture effects projected by wall lights. Small weddings, banquets or business meetings are an ideal fit for the 86 Park Lane function suites, offering 20 naturally lit rooms.
