JW Marriott’s First Hotel in Spain Debuts in Madrid

JW Marriott has unveiled its first property in Spain with the opening of the 139-key JW Marriott Hotel Madrid. Located in the Canalejas zone, next to the popular Puerta del Sol, the new hotel is a stone’s throw from the city's art institutions and theaters.

Previously one of the oldest perfumeries in Madrid, the building has a unique legacy, with the hotel architecture and design led by Rockwell Group. Touches of the building’s historic past remain visible through the preservation of certain elements, such as the wrought iron columns from the 19th century, which can be found throughout the property.

The property has designed in-room experiences for guests to enjoy a personalized wellness journey. To note, guests will have complimentary access to video workouts and meditation practices via QR codes; yoga mats are also available in all rooms. The bath menu, with special playlists and customizable light setups, offers a private spa-like experience. Tip: Most suites located on the upper floors have large terraces offering views of the city below.

Beyond the in-room experiences, the property offers a large and fully equipped Fitness Room and Wellness Area

Paying homage to the building's heritage, JW Marriott Hotel Madrid has collaborated with the Spanish Academy of Perfume to create a holistic wellness experience. Each guest is welcomed with a traditional violet- or rosemary-scented tea in an artisanal ceramic cup upon check-in. Guests then choose from one of five scents that will be placed in their wardrobe, while stories about Madrid and its aromas are found on the bedside table. In the lobby, guests can explore an exhibition showcasing antique perfume bottles, books and essences. Olfactory workshops in partnership with the Academy offer opportunities for guests to learn more about the city and their scent preferences.

Partnering with Michelin-star chef Mario Sandoval, the property’s dining and cocktail concept QU showcases Spanish flavors with dishes inspired by perfume containers. The cocktail menu highlights local ingredients and aromas such as chocolate, rosemary and lemon. The on-site El Patio JW Garden will supply the restaurant and bar with various ingredients.
