Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort & Spa Debuts in Western Caribbean

Kimpton has announced the opening of Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort & Spa on West Bay Beach of Roatán Island. The Caribbean retreat offers 119 guestrooms, suites and bungalows; four restaurants and bars; spa; and nearly 6,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces.

The 119 guestrooms with west-facing sunset views include specialty suites with private balcony plunge pools and standalone bungalows complete with private outdoor showers. Among the specialty suites are the Spa Suites, complete with an outdoor shower and a separate soaking tub while the Presidential Suite, located on the top floor of the main building, features a living and dining room, kitchen area and an oceanfront terrace with a private plunge pool.

For travelers seeking a more spacious, secluded retreat, the standalone bungalows offer canopy or resort views. Each bungalow features multi-level accommodation with a plush King bed, living area with pull-out sofa and private outdoor shower.

The resort’s signature dining venues are helmed by Executive Chef Israel Navarro. The flagship concept, Alera, offers Mediterranean cuisine, and is open for breakfast and dinner daily. Vos Café & Bar is an all-day eatery open from Tuesday through Saturday featuring a full coffee program by morning and evolves into a bar by evening. Sea Cat is an oceanfront beach bar open daily, serving poolside classics such as fish tacos, ceviche, tropical salads and frozen drinks. A rustic reef-side beach bar, The Drop Off offers craft cocktails, live fire seafood snacks, and sunset views accented by regular musical performances from Wednesday through Sunday.

Kao Kamasa Spa spans over 10,500 square feet and features six single treatment rooms, two outdoor couples suites, one outdoor Temazcal-Jaguar room, and numerous pools and fountains—including a private infinity pool with a glass-bottom that looks directly down into the petrified coral reef of the Iron Shore—accompanied by treatment spaces for hair, nails, body and mind. Treatments draw on ancient techniques from the island’s indigenous Pesh community, combined with modern practices and facilities.

Kimpton Grand Roatán’s meeting and event spaces include the Dene Frances Boardroom and Orquidea Ballroom.

The resort will provide a range of exclusive amenities and signature experiences. Activities include weekly yoga sessions, healing workshops, snorkeling or kayaking along the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. Kimpton’s Social Hour will take place daily featuring a rotation of local partners such as Roatán Chocolate Factory, Roatán Island Brewing Company and Oscar Valladares Tobacco Co. Destination experiences and cultural opportunities will be available through the resort’s concierge team.

Owned and developed by Vista Capital, Kimpton Grand Roatán joins Vista’s personal investments in the island, including its nearby garden and farm, which the culinary team uses to source local produce, and its nonprofit organization Abundant Life Foundation.

The resort’s “Grand Opening” promotion offers up to 30 percent savings when booked by December 31, 2023, valid for dates of stay through June 30, 2024. The resort also offers IHG One Rewards members the opportunity to earn or redeem points.

The resort is easy to reach with select airlines flying from major U.S. cities straight to Roatán, along with multiple 40-minute daily flights from Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in Honduras’ capital to Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport on Roatán.
