New U.S. Hotel Collection Debuts With Outdoor-Focused Properties

Outbound Hotels is a new collection of locally minded hotels and experiences in outdoor destinations from Jackson Hole, WY, to Mammoth Lakes, CA.

Outbound Hotels are all about connection. Each property is close enough to a town, where visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture, and close enough to nature where they can hit the trails, bike, ski, climb or swim, making it seamless to enjoy outdoor activities. Outbound properties are also dog- and family-friendly.

Outbound Hotels debuts with two properties in its collection. They are:

The Virginian Lodge, an Outbound Hotel in Jackson Hole, WY – Glenn Napierskie built The Virginian Lodge in the 1960s after seeing visitors in Jackson Hole sleeping in their cars. The hotel has two hot tubs, seven built-in fire pits, an all-season pool, the iconic Virginian Saloon, and over 4,000 square feet of event space. Guests and locals can dine at the newly opened Billy’s Burgers. They can also visit the recently opened Midtown Liquor, to stock up on provisions before heading out to explore the wilds of Jackson Hole. Starting every morning at 7 a.m., Midtown also serves grab-and-go breakfast and coffee. The Virginian Lodge is the ideal base camp for access to national parks (Grand Teton, Yellowstone), wildlife refuges, museums, hot springs, local distilleries and wineries and authentic dude ranches.

Outbound Mammoth (formerly Sierra Nevada Resort) in Mammoth Lakes, CA – Recently rebranded to Outbound Mammoth, the six-acre resort offers convenient access to the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, Mammoth Lakes Hiking Trails and the Tioga Pass entrance to Yosemite National Park. Building off of the over 50-year foundation of the hotel, as part of the rebrand, Outbound has refreshed this property’s rooms and chalets, besides adding 10 new cabins and 20 villas. Other facilities include a new pool area, an on-site restaurant, a steam room, dry sauna, fire pits and offerings for pets. Guests can enjoy a welcome beer from the newly opened restaurant, Bar Sierra, with 16 local brews on tap and Cali-inspired BBQ with nightly programming. In winter, the snow-covered slopes call to ski and snowboarding enthusiasts; in summer, Mammoth Lake beckons with fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, hot springs and boating opportunities.

Outbound Hotels’ expansion plans include opening properties in Stowe, VT (July 2024), and Yosemite National Park (Q1 2025), the group’s first new-build.
