The Yasawa Island Resort and Spa, Fiji, has announced its plans to reopen. The independently owned property is set to greet international visitors with a traditional “Bula” welcome on December 18, 2021.
The resort is accepting immediate bookings and future reservations. The news coincides with Tourism Fiji and the Fiji government’s official announcement to reinstate travel to the country on December 1 after a pandemic-induced pause that lasted 20 months.
To align itself with the country’s COVID-19 protocols, the CFC-certified resort, which aligns itself with the country’s Care Fiji Commitment and Fijian COVID Safe Economic Recovery, has reported that all of the its staff are fully vaccinated and 80 percent of nearby local villages have received a double dose of the vaccine. Prior to lockdown, the upscale property was a quarantine approved resort.
Located on a 7,000-acre island with only a handful of villagers as neighbors, the resort is just 30 minutes by private air transfer and inaccessible to other travelers from Nadi International Airport.
Just in time for reopening, the one-island resort will also greet new and returning travelers after an intensive renovation project that includes new wooden bure doors and decks, outdoor stone showers with cinnamon wood privacy screens, pergolas over each bure entrance, besides an outdoor pizza oven and barbecue area for alfresco dining.
The resort features 18 thatched luxury bungalows hidden among tropical foliage. It is only steps from a pristine stretch of beachfront. The all-inclusive resort offers fresh, contemporary cuisine. Guests can choose to dine at the new al fresco main dining complex with 180-degree views of the ocean, beachside, at the horizon pool or in the privacy of their beach hut. The poolside Manasa’s Bar, named after a long-time resort employee, serves signature cocktails from dawn to dusk.
The full service Baravi Spa offers oceanview massages and is famed for its signature “Baravi Rhythm,” a four-handed synchronized massage where therapists work in tandem with the waves of the ocean. Hot-rock therapies use black volcanic pebbles to reflect the fiery rift that created the island.
Guests can indulge in a range of complimentary resort activities on land and at sea. They can swim in the waters of the Sawa-I-Lau Caves, snorkel among corals and tropical fish or opt for sea kayaking, boating on a catamaran, stand-up paddle boarding and windsurfing. Back on shore, they can go hiking or play tennis, volleyball and rugby matches.
For more adventurous guests, there’s deep sea fishing and PADI scuba diving available for an additional charge.
Guests can also enjoy a complimentary private beach picnic on one of the 11 white sand beaches, partake in a traditional Fijian Lovo feast and witness a meke performance (the ceremonial dance of Fiji).
Upon arrival in Nadi Fiji International Airport, guests can reach the resort aboard a 30-minute private flight.
