Who’s Where in Travel: New Sales, Hotel Appointments

There’s been one big sales appointment and a number of new hotel executives this week in job moves in the travel industry.

Air medical transport and crisis response company Medjet promoted Paul Goodall to travel agency sales manager this week. Goodall, who had previously been the company’s membership renewals manager, will now focus on the Signature consortia and developing and maintaining other travel agency relationships. He joins recently appointed Travel Agency Sales Director Laura Heidt.

In cruise news, the Canaveral Port Authority has named Michael B. Poole to the role of chief financial officer (CFO) for Port Canaveral, effective May 11. Poole, who has 30 years of experience in maritime transportation, municipal finance, public accounting, and financial and operating auditing, most recently spent more than a decade as CFO at JAXPORT.

In air travel news, this week United Airlines named Josh Earnest senior vice president and chief communications officer. Earnest has more than two decades of strategic communications experience, including as White House Press Secretary during the Obama administration.

Sandals Resorts International has appointed David Erlich as corporate director spa, fitness and tennis, making him responsible for program development and operation of the company’s signature Red Lane Spa, fitness activation and tennis programming and facilities. This is a new role for the company, Sandals said, expanding the scope of the previous spa director position. Erlich was most recently director of spa and retail operations for Glenwood Hot Springs Resort.

Hilton has named Martin Rinck as global head, luxury and lifestyle group. In this role he will be responsible for all strategic development, brand innovation and leadership initiatives for the company’s luxury hotel portfolio, including Waldorf Astoria and Conrad, as well as the Canopy lifestyle brand. Rinck has more than 30 years of hospitality experience, most recently leading Hilton’s Asia – Pacific business.

In other hotel news, Dream Hotel Group has appointed Ryan Walker to vice president of e-commerce and digital strategy and Kathryn Barrett to vice president of revenue management. Barrett is returning to Dream Hotel Group from Revenue Optimization Consultants, where she most recently served as regional director of revenue strategy, while Ryan Walker is joining the company from sbe Hospitality Group, where he most recently served as senior director of e-commerce and mobile.

Salamander Hotels & Resorts has named Tracey Slavonia as its new chief sales and marketing officer. She will oversee corporate strategic sales, marketing and revenue management initiatives for the company’s growing portfolio. Slavonia joins Salamander, which is based outside Washington, D.C., from the Enchantment Group, where she served as chief marketing officer.

Finally, this week The Mayfair Hotel named Tiffani Velazquez as director of catering sales, while the Rosewood Washington, DC named Timothy Edgecombe as its new director of sales.
