Another winter storm is disrupting travel across the northeastern United States Wednesday, with a number of flights cancelled in New York City area airports. Major airlines have issued flight change and cancellation waivers in response to the storm.
New York’s JFK and LaGuardia airports each report nearly 100 flights cancelled as of Wednesday. At Newark Liberty International Airport, over 200 flights have been cancelled. Boston’s Logan Airport and Philadelphia International Airport are both advising passengers to check with their airlines due to the winter weather. At Chicago O’Hare, the airport reports that snow is falling, but airlines are continuing to operate normally.

According to the latest forecast from Accuweather, snow and sleet are expected to fall across the Midwest, northeast and New England through Wednesday night. Some areas in north-central and northeastern Pennsylvania and western and central New York, as well as much of New England, are projected to receive six to 12 inches of snow, with higher amounts possible in localized areas. Enough ice is anticipated to make roads slippery, including portions of I-64, I-68, I-70, I-76 and I-78.
Travel Waivers
American Airlines has issued a flight waiver for customers scheduled to fly through affected airports February 7. Rebooked travel must take place through February 10 between the same city pair in the same cabin (or pay the difference.)
Delta has issued a winter weather waiver for affected cities, including Cincinnati, Baltimore, Washington, DC and New York north to Allentown, PA, for customers scheduled to fly February 7. Rebooked travel must begin no later than February 10, with the new ticket to be reissued on or before that date.
On United, customers scheduled to fly February 7 can rebook through February 10 in the originally ticketed cabin (any fare class) and between the original city pair.
Southwest Airlines is allowing customers scheduled to fly February 7 to rebook in the original class of service or travel standby within 14 days of their original date of travel.
JetBlue customers scheduled to fly February 7 can rebook through February 10.
Finally, travelers set to fly on Frontier Airlines February 7 can rebook with travel to be completed no later than February 21.
