ASTA Announces Entrepreneur of the Year Finalists

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) has announced the three finalists for its 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year Award

The winner will be selected and announced at the ASTA Global Convention (AGC) in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday, August 27.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award was established by The Dan and Gloria Bohan Foundation to promote entrepreneurship in the travel and hospitality industry through the recognition of innovators who have either established their own business or who have been responsible for significant entrepreneurial initiatives within an existing organization, ASTA said. Each year, the Foundation, in conjunction with ASTA, honors one person or organization that best exemplifies this spirit of entrepreneurship to receive the award and a $10,000 cash prize.

The finalists for 2019, along with their video submissions, are:

BabyQuip, Inc., presented by Frances Maier.

HotelsByDay.com, presented by Yannis Moati.

Kinship Vacations, presented by Ashley Metesh-McCoy.

The finalists will appear on stage at AGC to participate in a live “Shark Tank”-style competition on August 27. Each will be given three minutes to make a pitch to a panel of judges, each a travel expert and industry veteran. Tech media personality and entrepreneur Randi Zuckerberg will serve as a guest judge. Each judge will cast a vote for one of the finalists. The live audience, acting as a “super judge,” will also cast a vote in the aggregate to determine the winner.
