Exodus Travels Launches New "Nature First" Initiative

Exodus Travels, the adventure travel company, which has already pledged to halve its carbon footprint by 2030, rewild 1,000 square feet of land per passenger, and to compensate for all trip and flight emissions, has launched a new campaign, “Nature First,” with a goal to become Nature Net Positive by 2024.

The focus of this initiative will be to reduce the negative impacts of travel, including carbon emissions, waste and pollution, and ecosystem exploitation, and seek to outweigh these impacts with efforts to restore nature wherever possible, as part of their “promise to the planet.”

As part of the “Nature First” commitment, Exodus Travels is launching a new partnership with NatureMetrics and the International Union for Conservation of Nature, supporting the innovative initiative, eBioAtlas. The eBioAtlas focuses on monitoring biodiversity in different areas around the world, in order to map the distribution of various species and contribute to global knowledge of ecosystems through genetics and technology.

From 2023, Exodus Travels will enable their travelers to collect samples on their trips, to help support conservation action and inform world biodiversity policy. The sample-taking process is based on the fact that species leave traces of their DNA in different environments, such as wetlands, forests and waterways. Using the eDNA technique, it is possible to know the species present in different ecosystems and their migration habits.
