Second BA Strike Enters Third Day, More Planned for April

March 29, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox

The second strike by British Airways cabin crew this month enters its third day Monday, with more walkouts threatened for April.

More than 120 BA flights from London Heathrow were canceled on Monday, according to the BA website, but all flights to and from London City and London Gatwick were operating normally.

The Telegraph is reporting that 63 percent of cabin crew reported to work as normal on Saturday across both airports. "While there is no real dispute about Gatwick," the article says, "Unite says in total over the weekend only 300 of 2,200 people rostered for duty did so."

The Unite union, which represents about 90 percent of BA’s 12,000 cabin crew workers, threatened a third wave of industrial action after Easter if no progress was made on talks, with crews likely to walk out again on April 14.
