Carnival, Univision Announce Second Season of ‘La Gran Sorpresa’

Carnival Corporation and Univision’s travel television show “La Gran Sorpresa” will return December 22 with a one-hour holiday special at 10 p.m. on the Univision Network. Regular programming will air Fridays at 8 p.m. on UniMás starting January 11, with encore shows on Univision Network Sundays at 5 p.m., beginning January 13.

The series’ host Poncho de Anda will return for the second season, with Univision’s “El Gordo y la Flaca” personality Clarissa Molina joining him to co-host. “La Gran Sorpresa” reunites families who are facing hardship and surprises them as they sail aboard ships from Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises and Holland America Line. The series’ 2018 Christmas special see de Anda and Molina recap highlights from the first season, as well as feature a performance by Latin Grammy-winner Nacho.

“La Gran Sorpresa” marks the seventh Ocean Original series created by Carnival Corporation, the fifth to appear on network of cable television in the United States and the first to engage the country’s Hispanic community. Currently, the company produces three other travel series that appear weekly on ABC and NBC. Other Ocean Original series include “Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin” and "Vacation Creation" on ABC and “The Voyager with Josh Garcia” on NBC.

Carnival has also launched OceanView Mobile, a free travel app featuring over 100 Ocean Original episodes. The platform includes two direct-to-digital streaming original series, “GO” and “Local Eyes.” OceanView content is available on over 80 of the company’s 103 cruise ships.
