Wonder of the Seas' Debut Shifted From China to U.S. and Europe

Royal Caribbean International has announced that its newest Oasis Class ship, Wonder of the Seas, which was slated to begin sailing from China in March next year, will instead be debuting in the U.S. and Europe in 2022, replacing its Asian itineraries. The ship will set sail on its maiden voyage from its homeport in Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean on March 4, 2022, before making its way to Barcelona and Rome in May.

The ship will offer multiple seven-night sailings to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale. Ports of call will include Cozumel, Mexico; PhilipsburgSt. Maarten; and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Every itinerary will include a visit to Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay. In May, Wonder of the Seas will head for the Mediterranean for its inaugural European season. From Barcelona and Rome on seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises, travelers will sail to Europe’s iconic and historic destinations, such as Palma de MallorcaSpain and CapriItaly. Bookings for the new ship’s European sailings will open on September 22.

Additionally, the cruise line announced that Wonder of the Seas will sail in the Mediterranean in 2022 in place of Allure of the Seas. The latter will now sail from Fort Lauderdale on six- and eight-night Caribbean cruises. Guests currently booked on Allure’s 2022 Mediterranean itineraries will automatically be rebooked to sail on Wonder of the Seas. Booked guests and travel partners impacted will be contacted with further details.

The new ship will offer signature Oasis Class features, along with a host of new experiences, including a new stateroom category, the Suite Neighborhood. The eighth neighborhood, exclusive to Wonder of the Seas, offers Royal Suite Class guests an elevated Suite Sun Deck in a new location, complete with a plunge pool, bar and plenty of loungers; along with a private restaurant, Coastal Kitchen and the Suite Lounge. It will also offer a spacious Ultimate Family Suite for a family of 10.

Other new features on the ship include Wonder Playscape, an underwater-themed play area featuring slides, games, puzzles and an interactive mural activated by touch; and a new cantilevered bar, The Vue, offering panoramic ocean views from high above on the pool deck.

The Lime & Coconut bar can be found on the pool deck, alongside The Perfect Storm high-speed waterslides, kids aqua park Splashaway Bay, casitas, in-pool loungers, and the largest poolside movie screen in the Royal Caribbean fleet.

Rounding out the amenities will be dedicated kids’ and teens’ spaces at Adventure OceanSocial100 and The Patio; the FlowRider surf simulator, twin rock-climbing walls and the ten-decks-high zip line. Guests can also visit the Boardwalk neighborhood, inspired by renowned boardwalks like Coney Island, and enjoy fine dining in Central Park.
