'Alohilani Resort Waikiki Mandates Vaccination for Staff, Guests

In a first in the state, the ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach will now require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination for all employees, guests and patrons starting October 15, 2021. The mandate also applies to six other Waikiki properties that are either owned or operated by Highgate, a real-estate investment and hospitality management company.

“Whether you are a Hawaii resident or a visitor to the Hawaii Islands, it’s our top priority that everyone in the state remains safe and healthy,” said Kelly Sanders, senior vice president of operations for Highgate Hawaii, in a press release. “Ensuring a safe, clean and inviting environment is at the core of our commitment to providing the highest level of hospitality.”

Note: This mandate applies to any travelers arriving at the hotel prior to October 15 who are staying through that date. Vaccination age exemptions will be applicable.

Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach sits where the city meets the sand and its design pays homage to Hawaii’s cultural heritage. Highlights at the resort include two restaurants by “Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto: Morimoto Asia and Momosan Waikiki. The former's menu integrates traditional Asian and Western ingredients, delivering specialty items such as Peking duck, sticky ribs, Korean kalbi, dim sum and traditional wok fry dishes, while the latter offers a fun and relaxed ramen dining experience. Other on-property amenities (beyond the slew of other F&B venues) are the Swell seascape pool deck and bar, a 280,000-gallon Oceanarium and a rooftop fitness experience, including sunset yoga, tennis lessons and batting cages.

In Hawaii, Highgate owns or operates seven hotels in Waikiki, including ‘Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, Park Shore Waikiki, Ambassador Waikiki Hotel, Pearl Waikiki Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Beach and Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki.
