Questex Travel Group’s unique specialization event Travel Industry Exchange commenced yesterday at the Sheraton New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana. This is the first time the event is focusing on destination specialization, and is fully hosting all attending travel agents.

Travel Industry Exchange, organized by Questex Travel Group, publishers of Travel Agent and  Luxury Travel Advisor, had a record number of applicants for the coveted hosted positions. Nearly 700 agents applied, yet only 13 percent were accepted based on rigorous criteria required to provide valuable one-to-one appointments to participating travel suppliers.

“Travel Industry Exchange is the finest opportunity suppliers will find to promote themselves to high producing agents who want to specialize in their products,” said Questex Travel Group’s executive vice president, John McMahon. “With up to 35 one-to-one appointments at 10-minutes a pop, networking receptions and meals, and inclusion on a panel to a captive audience, suppliers will end up with over nine hours of direct face time with agents.”

Guests arrived yesterday morning and got a head start on a packed three days as they headed straight into their sessions. They were officially welcomed that night via a casual networking reception hosted by Questex Travel Group and the Sheraton New Orleans.

The event continued this morning with “An Eye on Your Business,” presented by vice president of content and editorial director for Travel Agent and Luxury Travel Advisor Ruthanne Terrero, before heading into more sessions and one-to-one appointments between suppliers and agents.

Tonight, all attendees will participate in a traditional New Orleans-style second line as they walk to the Poydras Street Ferry Terminal for a night of dinner, dancing and excitement aboard the Paddlewheel Creole Queen, sponsored by Hospitality Enterprises New Orleans.

Sponsors of the event include host venue the Sheraton New Orleans, Cruise Lines International Association, Hospitality Enterprises New Orleans, The Hawaiian Islands, and The Sweat Social.

Travel Industry Exchange is the number one event for specialization and features one-to-one appointments between advisors and suppliers, valuable education, and networking events and receptions. For more information, visit travelindustryexchange.com.
