Another Air France Strike on Tap for Friday

Another strike is on tap for Friday, March 30, on Air France. The airline reports that several unions representing its staff have called for a strike on that date, resulting in a disruption to the airline’s flight schedule.

Air France said that flights operated by an aircraft other than that of Air France or Joon will not be affected by the strike, such as HOP!, KLM or Delta. While there’s no word yet on any specific flight cancellations, the airline said that, once it has a more accurate estimate of the number of employees on strike and the impact on operations, it will change its flight schedule accordingly and make the changes public the day before departure. Air France said that it may cancel some flights, or limit the number of passengers onboard some flights due to reduced crew. Guests will be informed by SMS or email the day before departure of any potential impact.

Air France is allowing travelers on flights operated by it or Joon on 30 March to rebook at no extra cost either through March 29, or to between March 31 and April 5. Guests can also postpone their flight to sometime after April 5, change their country of destination or origin or cancel their trip, in which case they will receive a nonrefundable voucher that will be valid for one year and can be used on Air France, KLM or HOP! flights.

Delta has also issued a rebooking waiver for all Air France, HOP! and Joon operated flights scheduled for March 30. Travelers can rebook either through March 29 or between March 31 and April 5, with the new ticket to be reissued on or before April 5.

The labor action comes just a week after two strikes, one nationwide and another by staff unions for Air France, disrupted air travel throughout the country.
