The Luxury Collection Heads to Budapest, Tasmania

The Luxury Collection (a Marriott brand) will make its debut in Budapest in May with the Matild Palace, built in 1902 during the Belle Epoque era. We say this will be a fave for river cruise clients ending their itineraries in Hungary, as well as travelers who simply want to immerse themselves in the heart of Budapest.

In its day, the hotel served as the social hub of the city and included one of the first cafés in Budapest, shopping units and residences. The palace is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is under monumental protection since 1977. Now, fully updated, the hotel has 130 elegantly appointed rooms and spectacular Danube River views. Guests of the revamped property can expect new dining venues, as well as contemporary cabaret shows.

This fall, the Luxury Collection will debut in Tasmania with The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart. The harborside property comprises a series of heritage buildings in Parliament Square, a new design-led, urban development that is set to revitalize the neighborhood.

The 152-room hotel will have several restaurants but we’re all about Mary Mary, a hidden cocktail bar, aimed to be a hub of locally inspired cocktail creations, great wines and artisanal beer and cider. An indoor/outdoor Deco Lounge will provide Afternoon Tea, coffee, light seasonal delicacies and lunches. The Tasman will be located directly behind Hobart’s historic Parliament House, near local institutions including Salamanca Market and the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA).
