Seattle’s Hotel Ändra Unveils Multimillion-Dollar Reno

Hotel Ändra has unveiled remodeled spaces following a year-long, multimillion-dollar renovation. The historic Seattle property in the Belltown-South Lake Union neighborhood has upgraded its interiors, drawing inspiration from its Scandinavian heritage. The hotel’s 123 guestrooms and suites, and public spaces reflect a sense of “hygge,” the Danish art of being consciously cozy.

The focal point of the newly renovated Living Room lobby is the full-height fireplace, inspired by the “walk-in” hearths in Swedish palaces. It is flanked by floor-to-ceiling shelves containing a mix of art, local objects and books. Across the hotel's five categories of redesigned guestrooms and suites, seating areas include custom beds fitted in fine linens, besides gold velvet sofas to create a relaxed lounge space. Upgraded amenities include in-room coffee/tea service; a wet/dry built-in custom minibar; spa robes; bath amenities; Wi-Fi; and a flat-screen TV with STAYCAST, allowing guests to stream their own content from their devices onto the room’s television.

Hotel Ändra’s one-bedroom Monarch Suite spans 1,500 square feet. The living room has a royal blue velvet sofa surrounded by lounge chairs with fur throws and textured pillows. The 10-seat dining table is flanked by European rattan and cane chairs. Large sliding bedroom doors lead to a grand king canopy bed. The bathroom has an eel-skin wallcovering backing a white marble vanity with gilt-framed lighted mirrors. A freestanding soaking tub is set against a basalt-tiled wall. Located on the ninth floor, the suite is ideal for executive retreats, intimate dinners or brainstorming sessions.

Hotel Ändra is home to chef/restaurateur Tom DouglasLola, which serves authentic Pacific Northwest cuisine. Three of Chef Douglas’ restaurants are located on the block. Additionally, Hotel Ändra also houses Chef Douglas’ recreational cooking school, the Hot Stove Society, which provides catering for the hotel’s event spaces. The venue is ideal for team building and group celebrations.

The hotel’s event spaces include:

  • Northern Lights Room – A 1,100-square-foot event space framed by a domed copper ceiling that mimics the Northern Lights
  • Ändra Loft – Connected to Hot Stove Society, this “floating” loft and bar overlooks the Living Room lobby and is designed for casual meetings and socializing around a fireplace
  • Galleri – A 700-square-foot boardroom overlooking Virginia Street in the heart of downtown Seattle.

Good to know: Hotel Ändra participates in the “Safe Stay” initiative launched by the American Hotel and Lodging Association. It also participates in “Clean the World” to reduce soap and bottle amenity waste, a recycling program and a linen reuse program. Rooms are fitted with “smart” lights and HVAC to only run in occupied rooms. Bathrooms have low-flush toilets and water-saving showers. Bath amenities include eco-friendly products.
